Aspen Solutions

Aspen Solutions are an IT services provider who specialise in business and government procurement contracts selling hardware, software and support services. This design was done along with Indiciumweb using their Maia content management system.

This system effectively separates code, programming, styling, and content and allowed me to develop an advanced system of CSS to control the look of the templates which underlay the structure of the the various types of pages necessary for both the information and ecommerce sections of the site. By keeping structural information in one CSS file and styling information in another it was relatively simple to make changes to these aspects of the design without major rewriting, and by using specific stylesheets for Internet Explorer 6 and 7 it was possible to use the latest techniques while still allowing these older, less standards compliant browsers to display a close similarity to the more modern ones. By making the main stylesheets switchable I was also able to offer the options of user-selectable large-text versions for accessibility purposes.

The Aspen site was built with search engine friendliness in mind and has been successfully spidered and indexed.
